Bright Continuous Annealing Line


Continuous annealing is contrasted with batch(Hooded)annealing; in continuous annealing, the strip material passes continuously through an annealing furnace that is open at both ends, without any dwell time, and is immediately coiled after annealing. In industrial applications, continuous annealing is widely used as a heat-treatment process that restores deformed grains to a uniform equiaxed microstructure, while simultaneously relieving work hardening and residual internal stresses, thereby returning the material’s microstructure and mechanical properties to their pre-deformation state.

The purpose of annealing cold-rolled titanium strip is to reduce severe work hardening and improve the formability of the sheet. Typically, annealing is carried out above the recrystallization temperature, resulting in a soft microstructure with excellent cold-forming properties. During annealing, there is also the potential to link recrystallization with changes in the material’s chemical composition, which is the subject of reaction annealing. If the sheet is intended for applications requiring high strength and does not have specific requirements for cold-formability, annealing can produce a microstructure that lies between fully work-hardened and fully recrystallized conditions.
