23-Roll Tension Leveler
The fundamental characteristic of a 23-roll tension-leveling machine is its ability to induce plastic elongation in the strip while the tensile stress remains well below the material’s yield strength. Under the action of the bending leveling rolls, only a very short segment of the strip is in the plastic state, whereas the remainder between the tension rolls undergoes only elastic deformation. Even within the region where plastic deformation occurs, only a small portion of the strip cross-section is actually plastically deformed; consequently, the risk of breakage at defect-prone edge regions is significantly reduced.
The 23-roll tension leveling unit is equipped with a total of eight tension rolls, which are arranged in two groups according to their location: the inlet tension roll group and the outlet tension roll group. The tension generated between these two groups is referred to as the leveling-section tension. Together with the uncoiling tension and the recoiling tension, it forms the unit’s three-stage tension control system.
